573W 1044 Donnington rft to Tyseley move ran today. However did manage to get in full at Wolverhampton with 37800 leading with 37611 on the rear.
In the middle was 196113.
However is there any more 196s left at Donnington rft please.
Also how many 196s are still at Long Marston . Thank you.

Just out of general curiosity, will the snow hills still see 196s or will that no-longer happen with the transfer of the Chiltern 172s?

Possible in later roll out. With a Worcester crewe. But only as far as Whitlocks End or Dorridge. If calling at Old Hill only a 4 car can be used.
Cannot be used Beyond Dorridge or Whitlocks End to Stratford upon avon due to size of some of the stations and method of working. According to few people I know on WMR.

Just a reminder this thread is to discuss WMR Class 196 build and implementation please.

If anyone wishes to discuss anything else (for example Class 17x diagrams/allocations) please create a new thread in the appropriate forum section (if there isn't one already), or use an existing thread (if there is one).

Many thanks :)

BHM-HFD's have needed new/more/consistent stock for best part of a decade or more. I now only travel a few times a year but 6years daily commute to BHM and the WMT/LM random unit generator anxiety made the journey unbearable at times. Moving to 2/4/6 car 196's really can't come soon enough. I hated seeing a 172/2 /3 turn up, although that was always better than seeing the booked 5car 170 turn up as the spare 150 off Tyseley.

I believe that 004 is still at Long Marston. 105 + 107 have been Shrewsbury based test units for the last few weeks.

I still have 004 at Long Marston.

I also have 101 as being at Worcester but that was a record I last updated in Feb - anyone know when it returned to Tyseley please?
At Long Marston on 23/06 were 196004/05/06/07/08/09/10/11, 196106/09/12

Mark
005 moved back to Tyseley sometime around the end of July/early August

196107/105 are at Shrewsbury Abbey Foregate Sidings at the moment. 107 and 101 were out today on the Salop.

Noticed this morning a lot of 5Txx paths on Railcam Data. Are these still for the 196s and what are the paths for like guard training for example? Or is it for something completely different?

Direct quotes from WMRs replies on their Facebook post from 2 days ago referencing the 196s;

"they will be going into service in the next couple of months"

"they will start to be rolled out into service very soon, drivers and conductors have been completing their training on them over the summer,"

I believe when I read the comments yesterday, there was a reply from them stating something along the lines of 'they will be in service later this month', although if I am remembering this correctly, the comment appears to have been deleted now.

Oh here we go again… the indefinite delays carry on. I won’t believe anything in terms of timeframes until we actually see the first one in service.

If they do actually enter in service in October, all being well and everything in agreement, then I will be very pleased with that. It will give me something to go and do during the shorter daylight hours, when I won't be out cycling so much.

The metaphorical red pen is ready and waiting! It's currently sat in a drawer patiently waiting to be used again!

Can imagine the upcoming strikes have undoubtedly delayed their introduction.

The only thing currently delaying them from deployment is train crew choosing not to do training as RDW so it's taking longer to complete.

Certainly closer than ever before, there is a staff only train at Wolves on Friday so launch isn't far away

Fleet confirmed yesterday that Shrewsbury launch is within 2-3 weeks.
ETA on Hereford lines is April 2023.

Never thought those remaining 170/5s would ever move across to the East in our lifetimes

How many 196s are being introduced from the word go?

Excellent! Is there any idea of what diagram will be the first to switch over?
Not sure as it's not my depot, I'm sure someone within planning may respond later....

They didn't mention, but quite a few are ready to go from my understanding.
