No problemThanks for the gen![]()
Tell me about it, 0730 down to Paignton was rammed leaving Teignmouth with me stuck in the middle of the front coach lol, 158's really don't suit busy stop-start school trains!158951 is working it's job today
Any about on Exmouth Paignton today? Thanks.
Hadn't thought so, saw a 2 car 158 going to Exmouth about 1318.~Unfortunately not, again... hmm...
158763 today.
1 x 150, 1 x 158/3 and 1 x 158/2 on the Barnstaples (not sure if that’s what booked to happen).
This was it's full diagram for today:166208 out today starting with 0608 Exeter-Exmouth, 0655 Exmouth-Paignton, 0840 Paignton-Exmouth etc.
hey all, is there any chance of them making their way back down to Exmouth any time soon? or the diagrams that they are running if they're still coming down down the branch, keeping my eye out for them, but not seen them yet
thank you, just been getting unlucky thenThey have been for the last month or so except for a couple of days. One comes down on 2308 Bristol to Exeter. then works Exmouth to Paignton runs all the next day finishing on 1950 Paignton to Exeter thence 2111 Exeter to Bristol TM.
Spotted it this week in blue livery.thank you, just been getting unlucky then
I have found out that apparently the plan is to have more 16x working in Devon & Cornwall to free up 158s to work around Bristol again.

16x will not operate in Cornwall, they are not cleared for operation there.
They could be though if gauge assessments were to be carried out
The only thing that is happening is that the 158s released by 255 sets in Devon and Cornwall will cover Bristol area work, to release a couple 16x to work Devon metro so 150s are available for double formations on the Devon Metro and available for Cornish branching work. Barnstaple diagrams still down for 158s and you still see the odd 158 in Cornwall.
There wasn't many pairs. A pair up in the morning peak to Exeter, and a pair from Plymouth to Penzance in the evening. Everything keeps changing at the moment. There should still be 3 x 158s in Cornwall but working singly whereas there were some pairs before.
I suppose there is the option for the Barney line to go over to 16x to allow a few 158/9s to move back up to Bristol in the near future if they do actually want more 158s back up there again...?16x will not operate in Cornwall, they are not cleared for operation there.
I think its to retain route knowledge.I suppose there is the option for the Barney line to go over to 16x to allow a few 158/9s to move back up to Bristol in the near future if they do actually want more 158s back up there again...?
The units don't need route knowledge ?!I think its to retain route knowledge.
Are there any 165/166’s actually allocated to Exeter, or are they still all allocated to SPM and just travel up/down to/from Bristol when necessary for maintenance etc.?
Thank you. Is there plans for some of them to be allocated to Exeter at a later date, or will it remain 150’s and 158’s only? No. They are allocated to and maintained at the Marsh and diagrams cycle round via Exeter. Servicing would be done there and perhaps minor quick fix repairs carried out at Exeter if required

Interesting, thank you.I’d say it’s unlikely, even when the 165 3 cars eventually transfer West.
“Allocated” to a depot carries much less meaning these days. With enough servicing, minor exams available at other depots, units can stay away from “home” for weeks or even months at a time. I’d expect the West Turbo fleet to be “allocated” to PM, even if they pick up a larger share of work in the Exeter area.
