They can manage with 2 sets as long as they don't both end up at Haymarket. They can't manage with 17 or whatever the total is.Well they seem to have managed it today without having Cadder open.

I think there's just 4 left to be delivered from Doncaster.Great bit of news to hear, fingers crossed for a rapid but seamless introduction for the rest of them. Are all of the additional vehicles in Scotland now or are some still at Doncaster?
Three have been reported as gone by road to Inverness, so only one to deliver.I think there's just 4 left to be delivered from Doncaster.
Okay that's great then. presumably not reported on here then unless I missed it.Three have been reported as gone by road to Inverness, so only one to deliver.
A single 158 (no. 739) operated the 1530 and rest of diagram according to RTT.The diagram that starts as the 0727 Edinburgh to Aberdeen was covered by a pair of 158s this morning… Not sure whether they remained on it or got swapped for an HST later. But the 0727 Edinburgh and Aberdeen and 1101 Aberdeen to Edinburgh for sure wasn’t an HST.
These are supposed to be their set diagrams (for now)Today the first two 5 coach sets have entered service between Edinburgh/Glasgow and Aberdeen.
43003 + Set HA11 + 43149
1A45 - 0727 Edinburgh - Aberdeen
1B24 - 1101 Aberdeen - Edinburgh
1A78 - 1530 Edinburgh - Aberdeen
1T44 - 1840 Aberdeen - Glasgow QS
1A95 - 2140 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen
43163 + Set HA10 + 43150
1T10 - 0738 Aberdeen - Glasgow QS
1A59 - 1041 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen
1T26 - 1350 Aberdeen - Glasgow QS
1A77 - 1639 Glasgow QS - Aberdeen
1B51 - 2011 Aberdeen - Edinburgh
HA10 failed with a wiper fault. These are supposed to be their set diagrams (for now)
Can never entirely rely on them definitely being HSTs though as for example the diagram starting with 1A45 today was worked throughout by 158s
In a parallel universe, maybe. The routes they're working could have been electrified and supplied with new EMUs in the same timescale.
Slightly greater cost ???About time - the fact it's been 7 years since 5 car HSTs were announced by Scotrail - and nearly 3 years after they were all supposed to be in traffic - is nothing short of shambolic. The routes they're working could have been electrified and supplied with new EMUs in the same timescale.
Which is perhaps why sets are currently stabled at Slateford. There is no room for them no matter the length of the set.The problem is not servicing them it's stabling them. That's why they need Cadder operational before they can introduce the extra coaches into the rakes.
Not before time! Sums up just how bad Abellio have been.nearly 3 years after they were all supposed to be in traffic - is nothing short of shambolic.
To be fair a lot of the delay was not Abellio's doing. The inability of Doncaster to produce converted coaches to the agreed timescale and Covid not allowing two people in the cab to train staff were the largest significant cause. Not before time! Sums up just how bad Abellio have been.
Surprised they weren't held back for the TS franchise to unveil them in a quick look what we've done aren't we just pure dead brilliant publicity push.
And yet there doesn't seem to be any news from an organisation that's hemorrhaging money about recovering costs from a supplier.Must be a good financial case against Doncaster for breach of contract.
The HST's were chosen since for minimum costs to bring up to date they would last beyond the current franchise contract. They chose an unproven option, so it's very much on Abellio and Transport Scotland too.
Who knew a 40+ year old steel bodied train running along the Cornish coast would be rusty? What a shock that must have come as...

Like the darned ferries and Bridge that's never to be closed for bad weather that closes in Scottish Weather - Transport Scotland needs to be seriously looked at.
Because circumstances never change. So if the trains that were barred the last time do end up here, it highlights just how hopeless Transport Scotland are.
The state of electrification for one thing - hybrid trains that can spend most of the journey on OHLE and use their engines for the bits in-between weren't a viable option in 2015 but by 2025+ the earliest examples of 80x may be starting to be available. What's different about underfloor engines in 2015 compared with beyond 2025 from the service quality perspective which prevented keeping 170s then?
That's not a Voyager though...The state of electrification for one thing - hybrid trains that can spend most of the journey on OHLE and use their engines for the bits in-between weren't a viable option in 2015 but by 2025+ the earliest examples of 80x may be starting to be available.
That's an astute observation. However, the specification didn't say that Voyagers were excluded, it was any train with underfloor engines. That's not a Voyager though...
Well, I was replying to a post not ruling them out from the next franchise specifically! That's an astute observation.
Bi-modes in the future? It makes sense during an impending route upgrade to Aberdeen. Waiting for the upgrade to the Highland Line? Hmm. However, this is all old coals being raked over. However, the specification didn't say that Voyagers were excluded, it was any train with underfloor engines.
Yes. I believe they were posted over on www.scot-rail.co.uk, and/or www.125group.org.uk.Regarding the use of the HSTs, are there supposed to be set diagrams for these?
