Caught using my Freedom pass before 0930

Slightly off topic… Would this call into question how the pass was used before 9am in the first place? If it gives the error message, surely a bus driver or ticket gate would recognise this and not allow travel?

Missing tap for a journey to Finsbury Park via Farringdon

Moderator note: Split from https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/penalty-fare-when-using-oyster-payg-via-farringdon.226141/ I’ve just seen today that I have had the same issue - went to Finsbury Park via Farringdon and Thameslink and it says there’s a missing tap.

Missed Connection due to COVID-19 measures at station

I had a similar concern at Kings Cross last week. Took me an extra fifteen minutes to get to the platforms with walking halfway round and back on itself. I was considering asking whether there were any ‘shortcuts’ for disabled passengers, but I really just wanted to get the train.

Claiming re-coup of hotel costs from LNER

Due to the disruption yesterday on the 16.4.19, I was advised by LNER on the phone to stay in London and that I would be able to recoup any hotel costs caused by me having to stayover. How do I go around doing this? Which is the best way to do this from? I'm already having doubts LNER will give...

Is this a breach of GDPR by TOC?

I've understood GDPR data breaches as those breaches that allow others to build a profile of you, INCLUDING 'sensitive' data.

Missing your train due to incorrect info on departure screen

All well and good when you're not travelling on an advance ticket.

Received a Pre-court Action but would like to contest it

Assuming your friend does have the conversation, it is possible for them to use the original conversation to show times of messages and the like. All they need do is tap the message they sent you and it will come up with a sent, and read time.

Received a Pre-court Action but would like to contest it

I'm quite surprised that no-one has suggested you ask your friend for a screenshot of the Whatsapp messages that were sent that day. Unless there is a large amount of bad luck, and your friend has also had to reinstall Whatsapp then I'd suggest asking them.

    Very Nervous

Irregardless (I love using that double negative), my point still stands. People are quick to attack others seeking advice and seem to have a love of 'fixing' stories so they fit their own beliefs.

    Very Nervous

I genuinely believed this side of the forum was for those who wanted advice regarding disputes and prosecutions... Not someone's rather rude view on their story: Or even this rather unhelpful view: I'm well aware that this adds nothing to the discussion, however o do think people...

    FCC getting soft

Surely it would be better in this case to employ a 'one size fits all' approach, as opposed to relying on the very subjective and potentially biased view of the conductor? For instance, do some TOCs offer their workers bonuses for catching out fare dodgers? Do all conductors have the same...

Edinburgh trams 'fine' (known as "standard fare")

Whilst the relevant factor is the non-acceptance of the card as authority to travel, surely this act in itself is wrong? The correct procedure would have been to accept the ticket and not charge a standard fare.

Thrown away ticket, now accused of fare evasion. Advice?

A lot of trains approaching Leeds have announcements made that tickets must be retained due to their being ticket barriers in operation. One place that did confuse me when I was younger was Birmingham New Street. Whenever I used to go for my monthly chemo trial, there were always people...

    Travel irregularity report

Try to keep the opening sentences short and snappy. Full stop after 2012, new sentence for the next part. For the main problem, try to be more detailed, but less descriptive and 'fluffy'. At the moment it's a little hard to read into the detail of what is going on as opposed to what happened...

15 year old denied travel due to smoking

Quite simply i'm shocked yet amazed that some of you on here think you are within your rights and morals to approve of this behaviour. If someone was smoking outside the local school up the road - no-one 'assumes' that they're actually overage hiding in a school uniform. If you believe that...
