does anyone know the spec for the pendo refurbishment e.g. what seats they'll use etc. I hope its not fainsa sophias and something more like the stuff on the 745/755 FLIRTs

It’s already been mentioned on here that they will not be Fainsa Sophias.
All Avanti have said they are custom made and have been trying out designs.
Talking of which, the first 390 is due soon.

I don't think going for anything Apple-specific would be wise, considering that it makes the feature unusable for most passengers!

The new apple chargers are backwards compatible with any Qi charger, so not limited to Apple devices. iPhones would stick to them, that’s all.

Are they still doing vinyl across the whole train? Someone on twitter (don't remember who so it could be totally wrong) suggested they tweaked the livery to just be the front and end carriages with the white everywhere else. Virgin did that too and I never understood it, flowing silk worked way better when it was the full train.

Virgin did the ends only as it was easier to remove the Virgin livery/branding at the end of the franchise and I think at the time it was still undecided if Virgin was going to continue after December last year. For Avanti I suspect it is a temporary thing. By just doing the ends you can complete a train a lot quicker than a 11 coach Pendolino which may take some time to complete which in turn means that more trains can be done in a shorter amount of time. I would imagine that when the interior refurbishment starts you may see the sets come out in the full livery.

They are apparently using a new seat not seen before on the UK network. If you were super keen, you could search the patents database for new train seat designs to see if you can find the design.

I've just watched the Ask Avanti video back from February ( dont think any have been done since?) still no seat picker promised by Autumn or any update on it , and if any refurbished Pendolino was due for service before Christmas would we have known by now as artists impressions would have been published?. In any case the manager answering the questions now works for Alstom according to linkedin !

Well, 390001's ruled out (its nameplate is yellow), as is 039 (its nameplate is light blue). Could be 002, 009, 010, or 013 - all of which have red plates.

Not 002 either, I saw that one go past on the Crewe camera earlier. I know Covid put a halt to things, but I am surprised so many of the pendolinos are still not in even partial Avanti livery - I reckon about a third of the fleet is still without Avanti ends.

With regard to the "partial" livery I must admit, having seen a few pass earlier, that I think it actually suits them better than the "full" version, as that has too many vertical parts to work nicely, whereas the all over white and grey doors actually works quite well with some colour at the ends. Is there an intention to finish them, or are they staying like that for now?

I've heard they will only be done partially for now. Although I've also heard that they may receive full livery when in for their refurbs.
