Avanti West Coast rebrand

Just seen a Pendolino go by the Crewe webcam with an Avanti livery which looks like it has been very hastily applied as there is a significant white gap at the South facing end.

Probably 390039?

It was an 11-car pendolino with a name plate - I saw 039 yesterday, but it has window bands on the side facing the webcam so it looked OK. At least they now seem to be working through the rest of the fleet at quite a pace now. 002 appears to be Avanti livery too.

Edit - Just seen it again working a Liverpool service - I think it is 390114 - definitely a City of ........ unit Here is the funny end - looks like they ran out of material before they reached the end!

Think that is 390124, as 390114 is still white according to the newest photos on Flickr.

124 is not named - this one was named City of....... - it looked like Manchester, which is 114, but the quality of the webcam is dodgy. 124 already has the Avanti ends - just done a quick search of Flickr, and its south facing end is complete covered, unlike this one.

Definitely 390124. It had a fatality recently which is why it has the white nose cone.

Railcam has 390124 operating the 1217 Euston to Manchester service - this was running the 1205 Euston to Liverpool service. This unit was named, which looking at the list posted a few pages back - 124 is not.

Must be 134 then as that is AWC'd and is named. Unless someone inputted the wrong one on Railcam?

Had confirmation that it is 114 with the dodgy South-facing end, so now joins 002 as having Avanti ends. They now seem to be going through the rest of the fleet at some pace - by my reckoning, 7 have been done in the last month or so. We are now down to 13 all white plus the 2 mask liveries - all the others have Avanti ends at least.

It's been discussed earlier in this thread, the feeling is once the 221's have all been done they will start on the 390's.

Unlikely. The 221s are being done by Bombardier while the 390s are being done by Alstom. The 390s may be refurbed after the 221s but they don't have to wait for each other.

122, 042 and 050 have now got the Avanti ends - 042 and 122 have lost the mask, and 050 has gained window bands.

They've actually done quite well for re-branding, there aren't any virgin colours on the pendolino's left and not many unbranded ones. Much better than certain other TOC's (coughSWRcough)

Indeed. When they got repainted they just got vinyl ends which Virgin peeled of at the end. 2 units remained which were quickly put in avanti livery

There were loads of unbranded pendolinos for a while - but they have quickly got through a large portion of the fleet, so there are not too many left now. Last time I checked, the following are still all white - 001, 005, 010, 013, 115, 118, 020, 126, 131, 135, 046, 154. That is 12 out of 56 pendolinos, so they are nearly there.

12 months to have most of the fleet in some manner of branded livery is significantly faster than many TOCs over the years: Including Virgin when they first took on the West Coast and Crosscountry franchises, in fact!

Pretty good going given the challenges that this year has brought to group working practices.
