The simple expediant of giving them a run somewhere, even if it is just to Norwich and back will cost money ! Who would do the work and who would pay, everything costs a lot of dosh nowadays, so without a firm "end-game", what is the point ?
But it is perfectly feasible for the work to be done - four long-stored ex-LNER power cars were returned to operational condition earlier this year. The simple expediant of giving them a run somewhere, even if it is just to Norwich and back will cost money ! Yes....if somebody wants them and is prepared to pay a lot of money! But it is perfectly feasible for the work to be done - four long-stored ex-LNER power cars were returned to operational condition earlier this year.

So they can paint them undercover?, (and any other stock that needs re-painting too)If there’s no end game why are they not being scrapped and instead being moved into a purpose built shed though?
Is the shed being purpose built specifically for the Class 43s that are there? I’ve not seen any mention of that.If there’s no end game why are they not being scrapped and instead being moved into a purpose built shed though?
I'm pretty sure that in a Rail Express article about Romic a few months back, it was them that were at the forefront of the building of a shed for the storage of their stockSo they can paint them undercover?, (and any other stock that needs re-painting too)
I thought the shed was for ERS to paint their own stock instead of doing it outside
Presumably, both of these have lost their names? As also mentioned in the Rail Adventure thread, 43160 & 43162 have left Devon today bound for storage soon the Mid Norfolk Railway (Romic).
Yes – names and branding have been removed.Presumably, both of these have lost their names?
Thank youYes – names and branding have been removed.
Some of those carriages look in a right sorry state.Going off this video taken recently of Great Yarmouth Sdgs, 43029 and 43206 (43006) appear have been stripped heavily for spares:
Gosh, yes. No going back for any of those. Some of those carriages look in a right sorry state.
Stripped and unsurprisingly to those who knew it from the start, soon to end up in the bin (sorry to burst the bubble of those who keep saying 006 + 112 should be saved because of it's paint job!). But they are both providing a valuable amount of spares to keep predominantly the export fleet going.Going off this video taken recently of Great Yarmouth Sdgs, 43029 and 43206 (43006) appear have been stripped heavily for spares:

Do they get started up at all?43112 is operational along with all the other remaining Power Cars on site.
Apologies if I have missed it - I take it that, since after 2021, LSL has sold 006 and 112?43006/029 have since been shunted out ready for one way road transport.

I don't think LSL have ever owned those power cars.Apologies if I have missed it - I take it that, since after 2021, LSL has sold 006 and 112?
LSL never owned them - reports that LSL had acquired them were “fake news”. They were bought by Romic in January last year.Apologies if I have missed it - I take it that, since after 2021, LSL has sold 006 and 112?
Thank you for clarifying on both points.LSL never owned them - reports that LSL had acquired them were “fake news”. They were bought by Romic in January last year.
It should also be noted that they are officially 43206/312, too.
I believe that came from a combination of a misreport in an online magazine article at the time (which actually meant to talk about LSLs Blue Pullman Power Cars) and the usual platform end wibble about how everything should be saved because of its fancy paint job (despite the fact as we know, that set was chose because it was due an overhaul and has no long term future signed up for it).LSL never owned them - reports that LSL had acquired them were “fake news”. Surely the shipping cost to Mexico far outweighs the part? Surely 7's damaged valance will be repaired with fibreglass weave?Imagine the lower front (whatever it's called) of 029 will be donated to 007?
Depends on how much they want to pay, and how quickly they want it. I wouldn’t put it past ROMIC already having a container full of spares somewhere on the high seas making its way to Mexico.Surely the shipping cost to Mexico far outweighs the part? Exactly - you wouldn't send the valance out on its own, it would go with the next lot of spares. At some point big components such as engines, bogies and cooler groups will be needed - so you send a load of spares together.Depends on how much they want to pay, and how quickly they want it. Either that or they’ll just ship the next lot of spares out with the next Power Car / Mk3 delivery.
