They say 70 minutes but it can be more or less depending on the crew.
I don't think there ever was any limit for alcohol was there? And the 70 minute limit was for hot food iirc? But they seem to have dumped the 70 minute rule completely now, as there no mention of it anywhere in their publicity. Instead it says this...."If your journey with us is less than 45 minutes, please check with your host what food options are available."

I've recently regularly got food between York and Newcastle - and yesterday a vodka. Will be doing again tomorrow.

45 minutes is far more reasonable. 70 minutes is very stingy. So was the one meal only rule for London to Edinburgh. On Virgin Trains you were always offered more after Preston, and that's not about being greedy, it's about the offering in relation to the journey time.

I see LNER are advertising a special "Festive menu" coming soon for Wednesday 30 November 2022 to Wednesday 4 January 2023. No details yet though. Anyone know what it might contain? Or will it be like last year's "Christmas" menu, which was exactly the same (as far as I could see) as the normal menu, except that it had "Christmas Menu" written, and reindeer pictures, on it.....

So called "Christmas menu" on the website now. I'm not impressed. No more cooked breakfast on any trains. No more sausage sandwich. No more meals.

That's a fairly typical menu from memory (might actually be a bit better than some past years!). Prior to Covid they would basically just shut down the enter catering operation other than a couple of hot items. The big difference this time though is in the time span. It used to kick in a day or two before Christmas and then run through to the first working day after New Year's day. To have run through all of December is new "innovation". For the week between Christmas and New Year it always felt acceptable. But for the entirety of December? Now that's stingy.

*Chicken* and stuffing? Talk about cheaping out. I'd get a proper Christmas *turkey* and stuffing sandwich from Marks!

I also see no fruit cake.

That's a very poor offering indeed.

Pretty rubbish, really. They’d be better off not publicising it!

Was anyone else expecting a hot meal?

Unfortunately this is an example of how Covid was used as a convenient excuse to remove “nice to haves” which have not been replaced.

We used to have chefs on our trains offering a full cooked meal option. These days it’s a sub m&s quality sandwich and a cereal bar if you’re lucky.

Nothing for more than 550kcal suggests its all light bites.

Pepsi not Coke - that's a major change.

If the bacon roll and sausage roll are returning to be all-day items then I am all for this menu. Those two are in my opinion the greatest all-day options LNER ever offered.

But if, as I fear, they are only for breakfast then the rest-of-day stuff really sucks.

They've ditched the waffles - that's poor. Was my favourite item on last year's christmas menu and then they reintroduced them but as breakfast only for the regular menu earlier this year
