Based on the video in post 393, and picture on flickr that shows the other driving vehicle of 730002 being 494002, I'd hazard a guess at:

490xxx-(491xxx)-492xxx-(493xxx)-494xxx where xxx is the set number
The 491 and 493 vehicles are the additional vehicles in 5 car sets, and 492 is the pantograph vehicle so as an example WMR 730036 would be:
494036-492036-494036 (DM-PT-DM)

and LNR 730205* would be
490205-491205-492205-493205-494205 (DM-M-PT-M-DM)

*though I'm not sure if such a set would exist - tradition from the 350 fleet would suggest the 5 cars are 730101-730129 & 730230-730245 but with the 350/4s coming in, that system is broken anyway!

I have just seen a video and they are getting Kiel seats
Correction, technically they already have Kiel seats)

on a different note, its also nice to see 730/0s have proper tables as well. (Not like those horrible tiny tables on the 701s) That is quite the step up compared to the 323s.

TPE chose the numbering so I guess they were the ones who broke the system?

the numbering for the /2s would be interesting though if they carried that system. Is it confirmed what the numbering is for the 730/1s and /2s?

The 2021 Combined Volume has them as:

730 101 being 490101, 491101, 492101, 493101, 494101 etc

730 201 being 490201, 491201, 492201, 493201, 494201 etc

Just (1610ish) saw 730 002 in the "flesh" at Wolverhampton. Presumably testing as not in public service. I hadn't realised just how bloody awful the purple and orange WMR colour scheme really is.

Anyone who wants to see lots of shots of 730s can see the flickr group below.

Photos from todays move on the Southern WCML to Tring will no doubt appear throughout the day.

Also, if you have flickr and post photos of 730s on there, feel free to add them the linked flickr group above for us all to enjoy! :D

Shouldn't the name of this thread be renamed to 'West Midland Trains Class 730s', given that's the name of the company and both brands within it are being discussed?

True. There also isn't a dedicated one for the WMR fleet as far as I know, so even more reason to add the WMR brand to the thread title. :)

Anyone know when the next run on the South WCML is? Cheers
Tomorrow.

Also to discuss build progress and deliveries in addition to tracking each units location and acceptance into service please see my thread here.

So Northern get the cast-offs again (as with the 319's)!

That paint scheme can best described as a flying aubergine with a hint of carrot.
(I wouldnt call them cast offs considering they are only 27 and will help northern further standardise their EMUs)

Its definitely the most accurate video on the 730s fleet information I have seen. Great video!

Although I am not sure they will be in service before late 2021 at this rate  especially the LNR sets

Not-so-subtle self promo there... classy ;)
Joking aside I wonder if we’ll ever see LNR and WMR 730s coupled? Obviously not planned but perhaps on the routes 350s currently operate now for WMR.

I imagine only for the purposes of rescue only. The 730/0s have a completely different interior and will be diagrammed for different services to the 730/1s and 730/2s. The trains from the two different business units of WMR and LNWR will be based at different depots as far as I know: Soho (and/or Bescot, I'm not sure on that one?) and Kings Heath respectively.
